Encouraging the Space Geek in your House

Last week Thursday was a big day in Science. My Facebook feed got inundated with news posts about the first photographs ever captured of a black hole. If that was not you, I am a homeschool mom, and we love geeking about those kind of things.

It was a big day indeed, scientists have long known about the existence of a black hole in space, but had not been able to get a picture of it and even seen it for real. This now has changed, thanks to a group of people, among which was an Ontario researcher, who worked over a decade on a series of telescopes that would eventually let us have a peek at this amazing phenomenon.

Why am I talking about this? Well because if you have a child that loves space and everything about it, I am pretty sure he got excited about this. If he is too young to get excited yet, I bet you, it won't be long. Now, how do you go about cultivating a love for subjects like science, space, astronomy and the likes? You got it, BOOKS.

There are lots of books you can avail yourself of to cultivate such interests, but I am here to tell you that at Usborne we have some amazing books on the topic.  Of course, you can get lots of books from the library (and so you should), but owning a bunch of books on topics such as those can go a long way in raising a space geek that some day might be part of some great discovery.

Here are a few of some great titles we offer:
